DIRECTIONS to the Rocky Hock Playhouse – Edenton, NC

 

DO NOT CONFUSE ROCKY HOCK ROAD WITH ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:

ROCKY HOCK LANDING RD., or ROCKY HOCK CREEK RD. 

If you are traveling SOUTH from Suffolk, VA on NC Hwy 32 and you are first going to the Nixon Family Restaurant:

The theatre is north of Edenton so you will not go all the way into town.  Once you are in Chowan County start watching for a flashing yellow traffic signal.  Your landmark will be the Goody’s Convenience Store and Gas Station that sits on the left at that intersection.  Turn RIGHT onto Rocky Hock Road at the flashing yellow light.

Follow Rocky Hock Road along for several miles until you see Whiteman’s Grocery Store on the right.  Rocky Hock Rd. veers to the LEFT just past Whiteman’s but if you are going to the restaurant first stay to the RIGHT which will put you onto River Road.  You will see Nixon’s Family Restaurant on the right in about ½ mile.

To get from Nixon’s Family Restaurant to the Rocky Hock Playhouse go back to Rocky Hock Road and turn RIGHT.  In approximately 3 miles you will see the Rocky Hock Baptist Church in front of you.  Just before the church turn RIGHT onto Evans-Bass Rd.  The Playhouse is .2 miles down on the right just past the baseball field.

 If you are traveling SOUTH from Suffolk on NC Hwy 32 and you are going directly to the theatre:

Rocky Hock Road is a loop.  It is best to take the second Rocky Hock Road if you are driving directly to the theatre.  So, do not turn onto the RH Rd. that is at the flashing yellow light.  Instead watch carefully for our sign and turn there.  You want to turn right onto the Rocky Hock Road that is several miles past the flashing yellow light.  We have a large sign on the right side of the road at the “second” entrance onto Rocky Hock Rd. off of Hwy. 32.  Once you turn onto RH Rd. go three miles and watch for the Rock Hock Baptist Church on the left.  Turn left onto Evans-Bass Rd.

If you are traveling NORTH OR SOUTH TO EDENTON on Hwy. 17 from Williamston or Elizabeth City and you are going directly to the theatre: 

Take exit #227 off of Hwy 17 in Edenton and go North (away from town) toward Suffolk, VA.  In approximately 6 miles you will turn LEFT onto Rocky Hock Road.  (You will see our sign.)  Go three miles and watch for the Rock Hock Baptist Church on the left.  Turn left onto Evans-Bass Rd.

If you are going to the Nixon Family Restaurant first, continue on Rocky Hock Road for approximately 3 miles past the Rocky Hock Baptist Church and follow the signs to Nixon’s.

            The Golden Corral is on the south side of Hwy 17 in Edenton where Hwys. 17 and 32 cross.
