Valentines Musicals
featuring
Jeff and Gloria Emmerich
February 1 - 24, 2008
(The Emmerich's Valentines musicals will also be performed at the Playhouse as a Dinner Theatre.  Please click here for details.)

(photos by Mr. Charles R. Rush)

Jeff and Gloria Emmerich will once again be taking their two-person Valentine's musicals out to the churches in 2008!  The Emmerichs love to share their musicals at the Playhouse, but so many churches are again expressing an interest in the Emmerichs coming to them in person during the Valentines season, they have decided to take their shows "on the road again" in 2008.

You will have four musicals to choose from in 2008!!

Together, Forever is a fun, touching,  and   inspirational look at what makes love work "forever" in people's lives.  The musical deals with relationships as brothers and sisters in Christ and really targets husbands and wives.  There is good comedy in the musical as well as some extremely poignant moments.  The musical can be a good "vehicle" for emotional healing in the lives of those who have recently lost a loved one.  God's Word and principles are woven into all the skits, narratives and songs.  Together, Forever is a very powerful musical designed to strengthen relationships of every kind, and we believe, the church body as a whole. God has used this musical in a powerful way.

The Gift of Love is a tremendously moving journey for the audience as the Emmerichs share the value of friendship and kindness, as well as giving and receiving “gifts of love.”   The musical encompasses a wide range of relational situations and perspectives and can be enjoyed by both the young and the old...the married and the unmarried.  The great gifts of love we can share with each other, and those that God has shared with us, are recounted through                                                      powerful stories and songs.

The Greatest of These (is Love) Without love nothing else matters. Real love makes us better people. True love lets us forgive, speak the truth, behave, stop bragging, believe, and endure. These simple truths are imperative ingredients to a wholesome and fulfilling life. This musical helps people grasp the purpose of forgiveness and gently reminds us about the value of friendship, patience, faith, and hope. The Greatest of These is a reminder that true inner peace comes only when we let love abide in our hearts. The Apostle Paul said it best, “…and the greatest of these is love.”

We're in This Together is Gloria Emmerich’s brand new musical for 2008!  Love is in the air and it's not just for couples! We're in This Together is a musical that is perfect for ANYONE who has ever been in love. Valentines is the season to celebrate love.  Life is a great adventure! Sometimes we need a gentle reminder that we never have to take the journey alone because...We're in This Together.

Some churches are interested in a repeat of a Valentines musical the Emmerichs performed in their church before.  Others are asking for one of the new musicals.  The choice is yours!!  With simple adjustments each musical can run between 45 minutes to one hour (or longer) in length.  All are well suited for either a regular church service or as a Valentines banquet (lunch or dinner) entertainment piece.

Contact the Emmerichs for financial and booking details at: etpc@mchsi.com.

At the bottom of this page you will find a letter we would like for you to read and a calendar with available dates listed.  Please use this as a guideline for picking dates for your church Valentines event.  We are constantly updating this calendar so you will find it fairly accurate.  However, the sooner you request a date the better as no date can be guaranteed until you have received an e-mail confirmation from the Emmerichs that your date has been cleared.

This is what folks are saying about their Valentines

experience with Jeff and Gloria Emmerich:

"Once again, another stellar performance by Jeff and Gloria!!  Though the show is geared to couples, the single guests (including divorced and widowed) did not feel left out.  It was a performance given in love, about love, and we were ALL touched by it. Can't wait until February 2006! Thank you for sharing your time and talents with us - you are such a blessing!"

"Your musical program Together, Forever in our Family Life Center on February 16, 2005 for our Keen-Agers and guests was a most wonderful, love inspiring program. It exceeded our highest expectations.  The program kindled happy memories of loved ones.  We were all inspired with a new appreciation for the ones with whom we share our lives.  It was truly a program that will be cherished forever by those who attended."

"I highly recommend Gloria and Jeff Emmerich to you for consideration of their On the Road production for Valentines.  Our people were more than entertained, they were inspired by the integrity and Christian witness of this talented couple.  And let me add that they were accommodating to our people who no longer have their spouses with them.  No one was left out as we all examined the significant relationships in our lives.  You can look forward to a total evening of enjoyment with them."

"Thank you for an amazing time of ministry at New Life Church in Hampton, Virginia. The musical touched our hearts and spoke to the need for couples to renew their relationship with the Lord and each other.  Your professionalism and sensitivity in ministry impressed all in attendance. May God continue to bless you and the dramatic arts ministry of Rocky Hock."

Dr. Phil Lucas, Administrator

"On February 18, 2005 Jeff and Gloria Emmerich of the Rocky Hock Playhouse in Edenton, N.C. presented Together, Forever.  This was a musical about relationships between people, especially husbands and wives.  It contained humor as well as some extremely poignant moments.  At the conclusion of the program, the married couples in the audience were asked to stand, face each other, and repeat their marriage vows.  In addition to being entertained by a couple with beautiful voices, we were reminded of our own vows and commitments to each other.  After experiencing our own joys, and perhaps confronting the more difficult times together, the vows were very heart-stirring and made us realized even more, the extent of the promises we made."
Sheila Hager
Winn's
Baptist Church
Glen Allen, VA

"I would like to thank you for presenting Together, Forever at Calvary Baptist Church in Rocky Mount.  The program was a treat for all who attended.  The music was beautiful and the whole program was a wonderful affirmation of marriage.  Thanks for providing this opportunity to celebrate true love."
Kay McGregor

Please read the following letter if you are interested in having the Emmerichs in for Valentines 2008.

Dear Friends,

Gloria and I would like everyone to read this message who is interested in having us in to minister for their group or church.  This letter is designed to help you in your decision regarding having us (the Emmerichs) come and present a musical program for Valentines 2008 at your church.  Gloria and I have four great musicals (each 45 minutes to 1 hour in length) that are all perfect for Valentines celebrations.  You can read about them in detail below.  If you are unsure which musical will suit your situation best please write to us about the make-up of your anticipated audience and we will help you decide.  Each musical is wonderful and different from the other!

Sorry this letter is long but we believe you will find it useful and that it will clarify some thoughts. When corresponding with us, please contact us by e-mail if at all possible.  The best address for us is:  etpc@mchsi.com.  The more date choices you give us the better your chances are of securing us for your Valentines event.  Please note that we are available for both lunch and dinner events as well as for morning or evening church services.  We are doing 6 performances of We’re in this Together at the theatre this year.   The dates are posted on the February calendar so you don’t need to worry about conflicts in that regard.

First, some details about the musicals:

Together, Forever deals with relationships as brothers and sisters in Christ, but primarily with relationships between husbands and wives.  There is good comedy in the musical as well as some extremely poignant moments.  It can be a little emotional for those in the audience that might have very recently lost a loved one, but we give a heartfelt "disclaimer" in the beginning and speak to this issue by encouraging anyone in attendance that has recently lost a spouse to use the experience as a vehicle for healing.  God's Word and principles are woven into all the skits, narratives, and songs.  It is a very powerful musical designed to strengthen relationships of every kind, and hopefully, the church as a whole. As a bonus (though we do not advertise it widely as it tends to scare off some of the men) we also generally incorporate a renewal of the wedding vows into the musical.  We always "ask permission" of the person in charge before including the vows as each church tends to view this segment with a different mind-set.  The renewal of vows can be excluded if you wish.  God has used this musical in a powerful way in the past.

The Gift of Love (by Gloria Emmerich) encompasses a broad base with respect to relationships.  This musical tends to speak widely to issues regarding families in general and to the central theme of love in our lives as we interact with friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers on a daily basis.  The musical is based on biblical principles as they relate to friendship and family.  The Gift of Love is intended to help individuals, couples, and families grow in an understanding of how God wants us to interrelate as His children. Likewise, we express that He wants us to learn to share ourselves with others by “giving” gifts of love…and “receiving” gifts of love and kindness from our fellow man…and from God.  Good friendships are the basis of a great deal of happiness in our lives.  This musical is designed to help us help ourselves by learning to accept the most precious gift of all—The Gift of Love (Jesus Christ)!

The Greatest of These (Is Love) is a musical by Gloria Emmerich that deals very specifically with Christian love and kindness regarding God’s purpose for our lives.  Corinthians 13 is the basis for the musical. The skits, dialogue, and songs are all fitting, and appropriate for everyone in the audience.  Much of the script is autobiographical and the Emmerichs weave highlights of their personal lives into the fabric of the musical.  This “personal touch” has made The Greatest of These (Is Love) a favorite among church groups over the past two years!

FINANCES:

We know you are interested in financial arrangements and Gloria and I have a pretty flexible policy regarding church ministry.  The theatre is a business and we must charge for tickets to make all the ends meet.  However, for our church ministry we make suggestions in regard to remuneration and trust that you will prayerfully consider an amount you feel is appropriate.

We do know that churches like financial guidelines however, and if you will e-mail us at (etpc@mchsi.com) we will be happy to send that information on to you.

The income we receive while sharing our ministry in the various churches in February will be used to help support the ongoing expenses of the theatre during the long break between the Christmas and Easter shows and to support our theatre outreach ministry. So, whatever income we receive during the Valentines season is a blessing in this regard also.

We are unable to supply a sound system when traveling and will need to use your equipment.  The set-up is simple as we really only need two microphones and the ability to play a CD soundtrack.  Our technical assistant, Lisa Walker, will be traveling with us and we require that she operates the sound for us.  In due time we will need to be in touch with your sound person to work out the details.

As of today, the following is a list of dates and towns in which Gloria and I will be performing our Valentines musicals in 2008.  If you are interested in having us share one of our Valentines musicals in your church please use this as a guideline for requesting a date in regard to travel times, etc.  We are well able to perform in two different venues on the same day.   This includes the evenings following matinee performances at the Playhouse during the month of February.  Just be sure we have time to travel between venues without getting a speeding ticket!  We look forward to hearing from you.  God bless.

Again, anyone interested in having the Emmerichs

in for ministry should e-mail them regarding financial information, or with questions, and date proposals at :

etpc@mchsi.com.
